The 2012 is a condenser microphone that has outstanding SPL handling enabling it to cope with extremely high SPLs which means it can be used in places where dynamic microphones would typically be used, like miking a snare drum.  Being a condenser microphone means it has a far better transient response than a dynamic microphone which allows it to pick up the most delicate sound with tremendous accuracy.

The 4055 microphone is perfect for the kick drum, offering excellent low-frequency response and transient accuracy.
